Model-based systems and software engineering (MBSSE) is a core pillar in CORESENSE’ approach to developing robots that *understand* their tasks, their environment, and the human needs they fulfil.
On June 21, Carlos Hernandez – associate professor at TU Delf and WP3 leader – gave a tutorial on MBSSE for the CS team, explaining the ISE&PPOOA methodology and how we can apply it in CORESENSE.
ISE&PPOOA results from decades of practical industry experience, systems thinking, and research by Prof. Jose Luis Fernandez, distilled in a practical methodology to apply MBSE ideas to developing systems. In the tutorial, Carlos shared how he is applying it to develop autonomous robots as part of the ISE&PPOOA team. He proposed how to apply its functional architecture approach in CORESENSE, where function and architecture also play a key role.
After a lot of ideas from the tutorial to process during the summer, the CS team in now developing them to design the CS Architecture and Cognitive Modules.
